The About Design Guarantee and 7 day returns policy
If any About Design product does not meet with your approval, please return it to us within 7 days, in an unused and re-saleable condition, and we'll be happy to make a refund or exchange. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights, governed by the EU Distance Selling Directive which is part of UK law under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000.
How to Return or Exchange an item:
If the item is not to your satisfaction in any way please contact us within 7 working days by e-mail at carol@aboutdesignuk.com and we can then exchange or give a credit note once the item has returned to us safely in original bags/boxes and complete packaging and perfect condition. Please note that goods are returned at your own cost unless damaged or sent to you in error (UK Mainland only), and we strongly recommend that you use recorded post as you are responsible for returned items until they reach our premises. We are only able to refund or exchange items which are received into our warehouse, and can accept no responsibility for any damage or loss that occurs during transit.
requesting a RAN (Returns Authorisation Number).
In this email please include:
- your name
- your address including postcode
- your Order number
- the reason for wanting to return the item.
- if your are wanting to exchange an item please detail what you would like to exchange if for.
We will then email you back with the RAN.
Please repack the item securely in its original packaging and send it to us at the following address within 7 days of recieving the item :

Please include your name and the order number in the package, so that we can identify you easily.
We will contact you once we have received the package to tell you that your return is being processed. Please allow 2-3 weeks for processing the credit note or exchange.
Any items returned must be adequately packed for protection in transit and in exactly the same packaging as when they were dispatched, i.e. in original bags/boxes and complete packaging. Failure to do so may result in the items being returned to the customer and the grounds for refunding the items deemed void.
Also, please note that we have a right to charge you for postage on exchange items, especially if we are sending outside of mainland UK. We will advise you of this when you contact us regarding your exchange.
How to Return an Item that is damaged:
If you think your item is damaged, please email us on carol@aboutdesignuk.com detailing the fault and including the following information:
- your name
- your address including postcode
- your Order number
- what the fault is
- whether you require an exchange or a refund.
We will then respond with details on how to return the item. Some items are returned directly to the manufacturer, so please do not send any goods to use unless you have received instruction to do so. If the item is faulty we will refund your return postage costs.
Any items returned must be adequately packed for protection in transit and in exactly the same packaging as when they were dispatched, i.e. in original bags/boxes and complete packaging. Failure to do so may result in the items being returned to the customer and the grounds for refunding the items deemed void. If you prefer, we will arrange to collect the products from you, but the cost will be charged to you and may be deducted from any refund due. To arrange this, it would be helpful if you could e-mail us at carol@aboutdesignuk.com , as there are occasions when it may not be necessary for you to be inconvenienced by sending a product back to us. After damaged goods are returned with receipt a full refund will be issued, postage costs for returning the damaged items will be refunded in full on proof of postage costs, this can be sent to us by e-mail or post.
Delivery areas, timescales and charges
We only deliver tom the UK.
If you order online and require delivery to UK Mainland addresses (excluding highlands), delivery will be via either Home Delivery Network, UK Mail or Royal Mail, depending on the weight of your order.
For the standard delivery timescales and charges, please see Delivery Details at the bottom of this page.
Please note that unfortunately we are unable to deliver any items to BFPO and PO Box addresses.
Redeliveries
In the case that an incorrect postal address is supplied to us or no one is home to collect a parcel, we cannot be responsible for covering costs of a redelivery, and if a charge is made, we will need to pass this on to you.
Also, if an item has been refused at the correct address and needs re-delivering, we will not be able to refund delivery charges.
What happens if my item doesn't arrive?
Very occasionally a parcel might go astray. We despatch everything within 14 days stock permitting unless specified otherwise (but no despatches on Saturday, Sunday or Public Holidays). About design can not take responsibility for any items that have not arrived after being dispatched unless your product falls into the catogory of : s
pecial delivery items have £500 compensation coverage for any damage or loss for products up to 10kg.
In the event that your parcel has been dispatched via Royal Mail 1st Class we must allow 15 working days to deem the item lost before we are able to resend or refund (as per Royal Mails terms and conditions).
Images
Sometimes our products may be subject to minor design changes and therefore may differ slightly from images provided. We endeavour to keep our product information and images as up-to-date as possible.
The standard delivery methods and timescales
Delivery timescales for Mainland UK
Orders placed by 12:00 are despatched same working day (save for circumstances beyond our control).
Orders placed after this time will be dispatched the following working day, although most orders placed between 12 and 3pm do go out the same day.
Please allow 1 working day for Express delivery and 1-5 working days for Standard delivery (after despatch).
For peace of mind if your order is extremely urgent, we recommend using our Express Delivery service (but please note that we make no guarantees on behalf of our couriers and in the case that your order is not delivered next day, no compensation will be due).
Standard delivery methods
We use two courier companies in an effort to ensure that we meet all our delivery targets. Delivery will be via Royal Mail or parcel force, and the service used will depend on the weight of your order.
Express delivery methods
Orders placed by 12:00 will be despatched same working day (save for circumstances beyond our control, in which case you will be kept fully informed). Orders placed after this time will be despatched the following working day, although most order placed between 12 and 3pm do go out the same day.
Delivery will be via Royal Mail Special Delivery or Parcel Force 24 hour service, depending on the weight of your order.
Although we make no guarantees on behalf of our couriers, the vast majority of orders are delivered the following working day after despatch (no deliveries on Saturdays).
All express deliveries require a signature.
Please note that Express Delivery is only available to customers in Mainland UK excluding Highlands.
